DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SENSITIZATION PROGRAMME

On the 31st of March 2023, the Fanteakwa North District Assembly (Department of Social Welfare and Community Developemt) in collaboration with the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of Ghana Police Service Eastern Regional Command Koforidua organized a sensitization programme on domestic violence. The District has been identified by DOVVSU has one with staggering rate of domestic violence within the region, hence the need to organize the sensitization programme which is aimed at helping to reducing its prevalence to the barest minimal. The event took place at Begoro.

The facilitators for the programme were; Chief Superintendent Mrs. Florence Anaman, Inspector Monica Opoku Agyemang, Sergeant Joyce Asieduwaa, Inspector Asempa and Inspector Peter Baafi all from the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU), Koforidua. Also in attendance were the Fanteakwa North District Commander of Ghana Police Service ASP Dennis Kuda, District Director for NCCE Ms. Cynthia Essel, staff of the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development as well as some staff of the assembly. The event was also well attended by the general public.
